It is an area of superspecialisation within the field of Anaesthesia. The field of paediatric Anesthesia has come a long way since its inception. While Anaesthetists as a whole in general are capable and individually with quick reflexes, this particular area of expertise calls for a lot more. Lack of co-operation from a child makes this field very challenging and demanding.
One has to be in a "state of constanthigh alert".
The margin of error is extremely small. Hence dealing with little children and their problems calls for specialist with intensive training and expertise.
